Big Just Don’t Care
When I was a butcher many moons ago, the local reps who supplied us would pop in at Xmas time with a bottle or a box of chocolates for the staff, thanking us for the business they had received for that year; a small gesture, but one always appreciated.
Over the years, this type of acknowledge has faded, and just lately, I received a letter from one of our biggest suppliers who we spend close to £500,000 per annum, saying that they are doing away with Xmas gifts and giving instead to charity. They are like most larger companies now who seem to “do the right thing” and give to needy and nothing to their customers who give them the business they need to thrive. But to be fair, most of our suppliers don’t bother with even a Xmas card, (to save the environment we are told), however, I bet no-one in these companies drives an all-electric car or bothers any other time what “greeting” Greta Thunberg says !!
So, let’s call a spade a spade here and say that the long and short of it is that with many larger companies now it’s more about maximising profits, and have a “can’t be arsed” with the “pain” of giving anything away for free, and a little less to do with helping the less fortunate. They have got that big, egotistic, distant and commercialised, they have forgotten the golden rule of business- Every customer is a wage packet.
TPS truly cares about its customers and will never take you for granted, and we choose to be different by giving ALL our customers a wee gift in December, as well as ALSO giving to Children and local charities.
So, if you did not get a tub of Heroes (because you are our Hero) in your order in December, please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will sort you out
NB: Thank you so much for your business
