COP “out” 26
A native of Glasgow, I was not looking forward to the sham show that was COP26, with all the disruption that goes with such an event, bringing the city to a stand-still in the name of a false hope.
“Activists” from all over the world, vandalising, blocking roads, letting air out of law-abiding citizen’s car tyres and generally causing chaos, in the hope of getting the world to support their over-the-top ideology.
However, a few things about these “Eco-warriors” invading Glasgow, led by Greta (or “Greetin” Thurnburg) that got me wondering; Did they all walk to Glesga from all over the world?.. As they are so anti fuel-based transport, that would have been the preferred method of travel, and do they really think gluing themselves to a bank machine would persuade anyone to ditch the car for a bicycle! . The scene on TV of the protester getting high on the fumes of the Evo-Stick used to glue himself to a Santander ATM, surrounded by Police, he was stuck hard and fast, making his passionate feelings about big industry corrupting the world abundantly clear. Was that type of gesture going to change anyone’s mind?. No I don’t think so. It was a dumb act from an even dummier individual with clearly too much time on his hands. And by the way, the “Boys in Blue” were deployed to protect him and not jail his sorry ass; they were just making sure he never got his trousers pulled down around his ankles and used as a cash dispenser and his wallet nicked.. It is Glasgow after all!
Thankfully at the conference itself, the subject of meat consumption was low on the COP 26 agenda, with fossil fuels being the real villain of the conference, so the Vicious Vegans got little or no publicity, which must have been a real “beef” for them!
We are doing our bit
As a responsible company , TPS is always looking to cut down on needless waste whenever and wherever it can, finding our own small ways to clean up our planet for our future generations. We only have Hybrid cars at TPS, with a view to moving to all electric next year ; we came away from printed boxes, allowing our customers to re-use all the shipping material we send, and recycle all the waste cardboard from deliveries that come into us. Now supplying recycled casings, we are pushing more and more to reduce our carbon footprint. However, we accept we can always do more.
NB: I was delighted to see Greta swearing away quite heartedly during one of the protests, as now when my Wife digs me up for expressing my words with a curse, I can now say, “If Greta ( New age – Joan of Arc) can do it, so can I!”
