How to make Excellent Employees
TPS has been on the go for 14 years now, and to be honest, it has been quite an easy journey with sales up year on year and the business growing larger and larger with it. The key to this success story has not been the brilliant leadership of yours truly, (Can’t take all the credit!), but the staff I have gathered along the way; “Team TPS!”. Great people who take responsibility for their jobs, make a Boss’s life so easy.
Led by our great Manager Elaine, who by the way, looks like she has joined the transgender movement in the photo above, has marshalled her troops well, with staff absenteeism very low, and our retention rate of near 100% very high. I am extremely proud of everyone that works for us, but on this occasion we need to make one special mention; Kirstie in the warehouse, who is our Employee of the year for 2021.
All through the pandemic, she worked tirelessly, getting the orders out sometimes on her own, working through lunch, coming in when she should have been off, and volunteering to do whatever needed to be done to look after our customer’s needs, including throwing stock into her car and personally delivering orders after work. A true trooper and worthy winner of the award of “TPS Employee of the year”. A real Amazonian who would give most men a run for their money!
Secret of a great team ?
At TPS, we expect everyone to have a voice to make suggestions to improve what we are doing on a daily basis, take ownership of situations, encourage them to make decisions, and not get hung up on mistakes, but instead find solutions to make sure errors don’t happen again. Regular bonding meals and events also allow a team environment and mentality to develop, and a real focus on customer service, which sadly doesn’t happen in many companies up and down the country. They just don’t get it – “ Look after your team, and your team will look after your customers”
